In their first road practice of the postseason, the Toronto Raptors got comfortable at Barclays Center.

After evening the series, the team is prepared to face a fired up Brooklyn Nets home crowd in Game 3 on Friday night.

“We’ve got to expect that it’s [going to be] a hostile crowd, as it should be,” DeMar DeRozan said. “It’s on their home floor. It’s like that when we play at home too. We understand that.”

Another thing the Raptors understand is how ...

Chemistry Major Key For Raptors’ Resurgence

demarlowry-640-1

Since the mid-December trade that gifted the Toronto Raptors with a bench, the team has been preaching a 15-deep mentality. More than that, they speak about being a family. When there’s total trust in a locker room, the common goal they are reaching for suddenly appears closer.

“I think these guys have been through so much together,” Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said. “I think ...

After a loss, it’s crucial to focus on what needs improving.

Two days later, after plenty of time to review film and discuss adjustments, it’s okay to also look at the things that did go well.

In a tough 94-87 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the Toronto Raptors received a huge game from sophomore Jonas Valanciunas. With 17 points and 18 rebounds in his playoff debut, he was incredible facing off against Kevin Garnett. He wasn’t the only Toronto Raptor to come up big under pressure, ...

Valanciunas Aims To Build On Impressive Playoff Debut

jv-slam

During Sunday night’s Game 1 thriller between the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers, TNT analyst Chris Webber drew from his playing experience.

“Your first playoff game, you are too excited,” Webber said. “Your adrenaline is too high.”

Webber was talking about sophomore point guard Damian Lillard, making his postseason debut. Lillard was incredible, finishing with 31 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Most first-timers are not nearly as successful as Lillard.

In the Toronto Raptors’ Game 1 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, there were plenty of nerves. All-Star DeMar DeRozan is glad ...

DeRozan Seeks Balance In Game Two Versus Nets

BKN_dd576

The 24 hours after DeMar DeRozan’s first playoff game, a loss, were quiet ones.

“I sat in my room the rest of the day,” DeRozan said. “I didn’t leave the room. I didn’t turn the TV on. I didn’t watch no game. I just cleared my mind. Just understand it was my first playoff game.”

Shooting 3-for-13 against the Brooklyn Nets in a 14-point postseason debut, DeRozan had plenty of possessions to replay in his mind. The game irked him so much, he almost returned to the Toronto Raptors practice court for ...
