Lowry Takes Charge Late For Raptors In Preseason Win Over Celtics

lowry_celtics777

The reason why re-signing Kyle Lowry was the top priority for the Toronto Raptors during the offseason was simple. The team is much better with him leading the charge. In a 116-109 preseason win against the Boston Celtics, Lowry delivered a fourth-quarter show just in case anyone forgot.

With the Raptors trailing by six to open the fourth and the Air Canada Centre crowd chanting for rookie Bruno Caboclo, Lowry reminded everyone in attendance why he had earned his new, four-year deal.

After playing just 3:45 in the third because of foul trouble, he ...

Key questions as the Raptors return to Air Canada Centre for their first preseason home game against their divisional foes from Boston (7:30 PM ET, NBA TV Canada, Sportsnet FAN590 The FAN).

Can The Defence Get Back On Track?

Yes it’s just preseason, but two straight sub par defensive performances haven’t sat well with Dwane Casey. The Raptors head coach said on Thursday his team’s defensive intensity “wasn’t anywhere near where it needed to be,” during Tuesday’s 113-106 road loss to the Kings.

The Raptors put the Kings at the free throw line 50 ...

Raptors 2014 Season Preview: Bigs

bigs-756-100714

The Toronto Raptors are banking on consistency and continued development from each of their players this season. While point guard Kyle Lowry and wing DeMar DeRozan led the way in the team’s return to the playoffs after five seasons, it could be big man Jonas Valanciunas who causes heads to turn this year.

Averaging 11.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and nearly a block per game in his sophomore season, the 22-year-old shot 53 percent from the floor. Valanciunas ranked 80th in Sports Illustrated’s Top 100 with the website noting that he was the only ...

After five years of nonstop work and dedication, DeMar DeRozan was rewarded for his efforts in the 2013-2014 season. Being named an All-Star reserve and making it to the playoffs for the first time in his career, DeRozan’s string of wins continued in the summer when he was named to Team USA and won a gold medal at the FIBA World Cup. As the good times multiplied, in true DeRozan fashion, the daily work continued.

When DeRozan inked a four-year contract extension in 2012, many felt it made him overpaid. Today ...

lowry_vasquez777

The most important moment in the Toronto Raptors’ offseason came late into the night on July 2. That, of course, was when Kyle Lowry made the decision to re-sign with the Raptors.

While DeMar DeRozan was the Raptors’ sole All-Star last season, there wasn’t a player more integral to the team’s success than its starting point guard. Coming off his strongest season in the league, with the memory of a postseason that ended too soon still fresh in his mind, the 27-year-old Lowry has spent his summer training in hopes of advancing ...
