After Lengthy Layoff, Raptors Ready To End First Half

After a breakneck pace to start this condensed season, the Raptors were back at practice Tuesday for a third time in four straight non-game days.

The long layoff has made it increasingly difficult for head coach Dwane Casey to get his team ready for actual game conditions, but on the plus side, it has also afforded him an opportunity to work on some key areas of concern such as slow starts and late-game execution.

More from coach Casey on matching up with a healthy Pistons team beginning to fire on all cylinders (sorry…) and his plans for an actual break during All-Star weekend below.

After two straight seasons of All-Star Weekend drama, DeMar DeRozan is also looking forward to a weekend break. Of course, that didn’t stop him from weighing in on this year’s field for the dunk contest, with two interesting picks in terms of who should and very possibly will win.

Finally, here’s Amir Johnson with an assessment of the team’s first half and his own start after major offseason ankle surgery.

Akil and I will have more on tomorrow’s matchup with the Pistons in this space tomorrow…
