Raptors Refuse To Look Past Sixers

With three important games on tap for the Raptors this week, you could understand the temptation to expand the team’s typical “one game at a time” approach to a five-day outlook.

“I even talked to the guys about taking it one quarter, one possession at a time, because if you start looking at too many things down the road, you don’t see anything,” Casey said after Tuesday’s practice at ACC. “We want to make sure we take ...

‘Landerson’ Is A Winning Combination For Raptors

What do you get when you combine Landry Fields and Alan Anderson?

Besides good results?

Landerson.

While there are abundant reasons for the Raptors’ eight wins in nine tries (the rapid progress of Terrence Ross and Ed Davis, the superb play of Jose Calderon, the return of Kyle Lowry), the team has thrived without Andrea Bargnani in large part because of the play of Fields and Anderson at the power forward spot.

“They’re similar in that both are tough guys, their energy is contagious,” said coach Dwane Casey. “Both of them have been around ...

My Head Says Yes… Well, Among Other Things

The emergence of Terrence Ross and the continued maturation of Ed Davis are essentials if the Raptors are to play meaningful late-season games.

The emergence of Terrence Ross and the continued maturation of Ed Davis are essentials if the Raptors are to play meaningful late-season games.

This is poison in a basketball column.

Naturally, I am going to do it anyway.

Would you, as a fellow from that other sport once posited, want to make the playoffs only to risk being manhandled by another team?

Hell, yes.

I think the Raptors can make the playoffs.

I say this in the wake of the iceberg, the 4-19 start.

Logic, of course, dictates that the majority of teams that begin by ...

You ALWAYS Go Full Windmill

Not going to lie, the #letrossdunk movement felt sort of hollow with the rookie expressing a lack of interest in NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest a few weeks back.

… and then I saw this post-game Friday.

So the push continues and Ross certainly built on his jaw-dropping credentials in Friday’s win over the Magic. You saw a serious candidate for putback of the year and then a little style as the rook busts out the full windmill on a breakaway.

His thought process on the build up to that spectacular slam?

“I was thinking ...
