The dog days of summer may officially be here, but that doesn’t mean the Raptors aren’t making news.
From a league perspective, Raptors rookies Jonas Valanciunas, Terrence Ross and Quincy Acy all took part in the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program, which was followed by this year’s edition of the Rookie Photo Shoot.

DeRozan Recap At The Drew
As the rookies anticipate their first taste of NBA action, DeMar DeRozan is preparing to enter a critical fourth season with the Raptors. DeRozan reportedly had a solid showing with the U.S. Select Team before the Summer Olympics in London, but also continued to ply his trade in L.A.’s Drew League with several other notable NBA’ers, including Dorrel Wright, Taj Gibson, Tyreke Evans, John Wall, Meta World Peace and Raptors teammate Ed Davis.
The Compton native once again put up some eye-popping numbers and highlights as you can tell from the reel below and Raptors fans are undoubtedly hoping improvements to his handle and jumper can carry over consistently to the NBA regular season.
Trick Shots & Travel With Jose
Finally, news of Jose Calderon’s proficiency at the charity stripe is nothing new, but the recent Olympic silver medal winner and career 87.5% free throw shooter has decided to up the degree of difficulty a little bit in a new commercial for KIA below.
Calderon also continues his work with for Unicef this summer, most recently visiting Zambia to get a first hand look at some of the projects the organization is working on there and tweeted this great photo from the trip.
Hard to believe, but the summer fun comes to an end in just a few short weeks as the players will start making their way to Toronto in September with Training Camp shortly to follow.
