TORONTO (CP) – It goes down as a comfortable win. But it was far from an impressive performance.

“We set basketball back 15 years in the first half,” Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey quipped after his team defeated the Orlando Magic 105-90 at the Air Canada Centre Sunday night.

“But like I told our guys, we’re going to have a lot of games where we’re going to have to grind it out,” Casey said. “For whatever reason, we struggle in the first half and then come […]

NBA.com Preview | Raptors Game Notes | Magic Game Notes

From NBA.com: Another strong defensive effort helped the Toronto Raptors bounce back from a rare defeat on their home floor.

It wouldn’t seem they should have trouble getting another home win Sunday night against the Orlando Magic, who could be without leading scorer Arron Afflalo and haven’t won a road game in more than two months.

While Atlantic Division-leading Toronto (30-25) has won 11 of 14 at home, the Southeast-worst Magic have lost 14 straight on the road since winning in Chicago on Dec. 16.

A 94-92 loss […]

TORONTO (CP) – Dwane Casey saw it as a sign of maturity on the part of his young team.

After a first half in which he thought “the lid was on the basket,” the Toronto Raptors coach watched his squad mount a second half surge to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-91.

“That’s another step in our growth,” Casey said after Friday night’s win at Air Canada Centre. “Last year at this time, if we’d have missed shots like that we’d have caved […]

Throwback Thursday: Air Canada Centre Turns 15

SkyDome General View

There’s no place like home, so the saying goes. By the way fans have been filling up Air Canada Centre this season, they would agree. And by the way the Raptors have been playing at Air Canada Centre this season, (9-3 in 2014) they would agree too.

But on this week in 1999, the Toronto Raptors scuffed up two different so-called ‘home turfs’. Things changed.

On February 19, 1999 the Raptors played their final game at the then named SkyDome, their home since their inaugural season. They wrapped up the era outplaying […]

#RTZ Digital Rundown: Raptors vs. Bulls

Well, talk about a rowdy night at Air Canada Centre. The play was scrappy, the fans were loud and the Raptors just missed the comeback victory against a rested Bulls squad.

Raptors Can’t Stop Rested, Charging Bulls At Home

article

TORONTO (CP) – In the world of professional sports, two months can feel like a lifetime. In a gritty 94-92 Chicago Bulls victory over the Raptors on Wednesday night, D.J. Augustin returned to Toronto to face the team that waived him in December and led the way.

Augustin smiled when asked about the big night, but stressed the importance of getting another victory against an Eastern Conference opponent.

“It feels good,” Augustin said. Not just with my past here, but because we’re fighting for the third spot with them so it feels good. It […]
