PHOENIX (CP) _ Big games aren’t out of the ordinary for Markieff Morris anymore, and he had another one Friday night.

Morris made his first 11 shots en route to a 25-point performance and the Phoenix Suns handed the Toronto Raptors their fifth straight loss, 106-97.

“I’ve just got a great feel for the game right now,” he said. “I’m not trying to shoot as many 3s as I have in the past. I’ve just been working on driving to the basket and trying ...

Game Preview: Raptors at Suns

gay_576_suns

Key questions heading into the second game of a three-game trip for the Raptors against the Suns at US Airways Center (9 PM ET, TSN2, FAN590).

Can The Raptors Bounce Back? It’s the big question coming off what head coach Dwane Casey called the “debacle in Golden State” after Thursday’s practice in Phoenix. That’s an extremely economical way to describe the Raptors surrendering a 27-point lead in an eventual 112-103 loss to the Warriors in Oakland — the biggest comeback allowed in franchise history and the team’s fourth straight loss overall.

With consecutive ...

Throwback Thursday: Lowry Looks Back On “The Series”

photo

“I want to be a basketball player when I grow up.” That line is famous amidst the young generations of double dribblers. Think of that free throw trophy still shining (of dust) in your childhood bedroom and laugh at the familiar nostalgia.

We all have our ‘bigger than Shaq’ childhood dreams, whether it be basketball or other Hollywood-like highs. At 4’9″, wearing Jordan’s and a too-big-for-you Magic jersey, the sun slowly set on the basketball court behind your elementary school as you held your chest out, surrounded by challenges, like you ...

OAKLAND, Calif. (CP)  _  Klay Thompson made four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to fuel an improbable comeback, Stephen Curry added a pair of shots from beyond the arc down the stretch and the Golden State Warriors rallied from 27 points down in the second half to beat the Toronto Raptors 112-103 Tuesday night.

Thompson finished with 22 points and seven assists, nearly matching Curry’s 27 and 10. David Lee added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors.

Raptors Aim To Regroup Out West

After an unsuccessful homestand, it’s going to be a gut-check kind of week for the Raptors on the West Coast.

The Raptors did themselves no favours by going 1-3 during their season-long run of four straight home games. Their latest defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets on Sunday dropped them to 6-10 on the campaign and signs of frustration are starting to show during the team’s current three-game losing streak.

Improbably, the Raptors still lead the Atlantic Division. But that’s going to be tested against a trio of Pacific Division teams ...

TORONTO (AP) Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey knows his starters can’t play the entire game.

After Sunday’s 112-98 loss to the Denver Nuggets, he probably wishes they could.

The Nuggets reserves outscored their Raptors counterparts 72-16 as Denver pulled away in the fourth quarter.

“Our bench has got to give us something,” Casey said after Toronto lost its third straight. “Our guys (starters) can’t play for 48 (minutes), so we’ve got to get production from our bench.

“The guys coming in have got ...

TORONTO (CP) – Poor defence early and bad free-throw shooting late cost the Toronto Raptors dearly Friday night.

Still they made a game of it against the surging Miami Heat, cutting a 20-point deficit to two before falling 90-83 to the NBA champions. It was the Heat’s ninth straight win.

“Missed opportunities,” lamented Toronto coach Dwane Casey whose team trailed 57-43 at the half.

Toronto went 2 for 10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. And there were other stumbles as the ...

Game Preview: Raptors vs. Heat

MIA_JV600

The Raptors aim to end their recent stretch of futility against the surging Heat in the final regular-season meeting between the two teams at ACC tonight (7 PM ET, TSN, FAN590, GET TICKETS).

Key Questions Heading into this one:

Can The Raptors Take Care Of Home? Because that hasn’t been the case so far. The Raptors are 1-1 on their current season-long four-game homestand and 3-4 overall this season at ACC.

Their latest defeat at home — a flat 102-100 effort against the Nets on Tuesday — still had head coach Dwane ...
