Amir Johnson Keeps Rolling With His Fans

Amir Johnson once again hosted some of his biggest fans to the ultimate night of appreciation with his annual I Roll With Amir event on Wednesday.

This was the third straight year the fan favourite forward has hosted the event, with this year’s edition being the biggest yet. A whopping 100 fans were chosen as winners from a series of contests via Johnson’s popular social media presence on Twitter and Facebook, not to mention his personal website (www.amirjohnson.com).

Winners were not only invited to come to Air Canada Centre to see the ...

rapswizards040313_4

TORONTO (CP)_Jonas Valanciunas joked that the last time he went to the line as much as he did he was probably 13-years-old.

Valanciunas went 16-of-18 from the free-throw line and scored a career-high 24 points to go with 10 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Washington Wizards 88-78 on Wednesday.

“From the start I was a new guy in the NBA, didn’t know a lot about it and there’s a big learning process during every game,” said Valanciunas, who admitted he’s starting to get more calls from refs around the league. ...

Alan Anderson gestures toward to the most important piece of fitness equipment he has.

He is pointing to his temple.

“Right here,” he said. “First thing in the morning, do you say to yourself ‘I’m tired?’ If you do, you’ve just told your body to feel tired. If you tell yourself you feel great, you do.”

Calderon had 19 points and nine assists for Detroit in his first game back since being traded in a three-team deal that brought Rudy Gay to Toronto from the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 30.

Raptors Struggle To Stop Wizards In Latest Road Loss

WASHINGTON (CP) — As the Washington Wizards pursue their stated goal of finishing ninth in the Eastern Conference, seeing Bradley Beal back on the court was a welcome sight.

Beal scored 24 points in his return from a five-game absence, leading the Wizards to a 109-92 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

Emeka Okafor had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and John Wall added 18 points and 10 assists for Washington. The Wizards, who came in having lost two in a row on the road, won their seventh straight ...
