TORONTO (CP) — It took all of couple of minutes for Rudy Gay to breathe new hope into Toronto Raptors fans.

Two minutes after the team’s newest player checked in to the Raptors’ 98-73 rout of the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, the explosive small forward took flight for a huge alley-oop dunk from DeMar DeRozan. Twenty seconds later, DeRozan found a sprinting Gay again.

Another big dunk, another roar of approval from the capacity crowd of 19,800 at Air Canada Centre.

“DeMar is a great player, he’s by far the best ...

The question to Rudy Gay was why he saw himself as a franchise player.

“I was born for it,” he said.

Casey was livid Wednesday night after officials made no call on apparent contact to DeMar DeRozan under the basket in the final seconds of Toronto’s 93-92 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

“I’m tired of this,” Casey said. “I’m tired of losing games because of missed calls at the end of the game. I know the league’s going to come down on me for this, but I don’t care. ...

TORONTO (AP) — Aaron Gray’s big night wasn’t enough to rescue the flu-ravaged Toronto Raptors.

The centre had a career-high 22 points Monday, but the Golden State Warriors pulled away late for a 114-102 victory over Toronto.

“They’re a much improved team, we feel like we can compete with teams like that, but tonight we just couldn’t stop anybody,” said Gray, who also had 10 rebounds. “They scored way too many points, that’s not the identity we want to have.

“It’s hard to beat teams when they score 114.”

TORONTO (CP) –  The Raptors had their hands full with Kyrie Irving all game long, but it was the almost lackadaisical three he drained in the blink of an eye that completely ruined Toronto’s night.

Cleveland’s all-star point guard hit a three with 0.9 seconds left as part of a 32-point performance, and the Cavaliers edged ...
