Raptors centre Jonas Valanciunas sustained a left calf strain during a voluntary workout Saturday afternoon.

The injury is not thought to be serious and he will be treated as symptoms require.

A timeline for a return to full basketball activity has not been established.

Raptors Sign McNeal And Wright

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have signed guard Jerel McNeal and forward Chris Wright. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed.

McNeal, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, played last season in Italy with Fabi Shoes Montegranaro. He averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 32 outings.

McNeal signed a 10-day contract with New Orleans in March 2011 but did not see any game action. He appeared in 47 NBA D-League contests with Rio Grande Valley, averaging 19.4 points, 4.4 assists and 34.4 minutes.

The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday their broadcast schedule for the 2012-13 NBA season with all 82 regular season contests being broadcast in High Definition (HD) and televised nationally for a seventh consecutive season. This also marks the 10th straight campaign that the entire regular season schedule will be aired locally.

Raptors Re-Sign Jamaal Magloire

The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday they have re-signed veteran centre Jamaal Magloire. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed.

Magloire averaged 1.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 11.0 minutes in 34 appearances with the Raptors last season. He posted season bests of seven points at Orlando on January 1 and 10 rebounds at New York on January 2.

Raptors To Hold Annual Media Day On October 1

The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday the team’s annual media day will take place Monday, October 1 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Atrium located at Gate 5 on the west side of Air Canada Centre. Players and coaches will be available for interviews and photos.

Head Coach Dwane Casey and his team will begin training camp in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Canada Games Centre from October 2-6 before returning to Toronto. A specific practice schedule with days and times will be released in the near future.

Raptors Sign Dominic McGuire


The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have signed forward Dominic McGuire. Per team policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

McGuire, 6-foot-9, 235 pounds, spent the 2011-12 season with Golden State, appearing in 64 games (six starts), averaging 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 17.6 minutes. He achieved career highs in 2008-09 averaging 4.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 26.2 minutes in 79 games (57 starts) with Washington.

McGuire was selected 47th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Wizards and has also appeared in games for Sacramento (2009-10) and Charlotte (2010-11). ...

The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday a seven-game preseason schedule featuring four contests at Air Canada Centre. As previously announced, the Raptors will return to Montreal as part of the NBA Canada Series to face the New York Knicks on October 19.
