Raptors Re-Sign Anderson, Uzoh To Second 10-Day Contracts

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have re-signed guard-forward Alan Anderson and guard Ben Uzoh to second 10-day contracts. The Raptors signed Anderson to his original 10-day March 26 and Uzoh on March 27.

Anderson, 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, has appeared in six games with Toronto, starting one contest. He has averaged 5.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 16.0 minutes. Jerryd Bayless Injury Update


The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday guard Jerryd Bayless is expected to be sidelined the remainder of the 2011-12 season with a partially torn left oblique muscle. He underwent tests today at Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital.

Bayless left Monday’s game versus Orlando at the 5:25 mark of the second quarter and did not return.

Raptors Sign Ben Uzoh To 10-Day Contract

The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday they have signed guard Ben Uzoh (ooh-ZOE) to a 10-day contract. He is the 43rd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA D-League season.

Uzoh, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, joins the Raptors from the NBA D-League’s Rio Grande (Texas) Valley Vipers. He averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 30.8 minutes in 20 appearances.

Anderson, six feet six inches tall and 220 pounds, averaged 21.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in eight appearances with the NBA D-League’s Canton Charge. He ranks 11th in the league in scoring, while shooting .550 (60-for-109) from the field and .800 (40-for-50) at the charity stripe.

Raptors Waive Rasual Butler

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have waived forward Rasual Butler.

Butler was signed as a free agent December 10. The 10-year NBA veteran appeared in 34 games, averaging 3.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 13.3 minutes.

Raptors To Honour Canadian Forces

The Toronto Raptors will debut their special Canadian Forces fourth jersey as part of their annual Canadian Forces Appreciation Night on Wednesday when they host the Chicago Bulls. Wednesday’s contest will mark the first time an NBA team has worn a camouflage jersey during a game. The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they have traded guard Leandro Barbosa to the Indiana Pacers for a 2012 second-round draft pick and cash considerations.

Andrea Bargnani Injury Update

Raptors forward-centre Andrea Bargnani reinjured his strained left calf in the first overtime of Wednesday’s double-overtime victory at Utah. Tests done Thursday in Denver revealed no significant damage to the calf. Bargnani will be treated symptomatically and is expected to be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.

Bargnani originally injured his calf January 11 against Sacramento. He missed six games from January 13-22.

Alabi Recalled From Bakersfield Jam

The Toronto Raptors announced Sunday centre Solomon Alabi has been recalled from the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

Alabi was assigned to the Jam on January 4. He appeared in nine games, averaging 9.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 21.2 minutes. He posted two double-doubles, and had highs of 22 points January 7 versus Idaho and 15 rebounds January 6 versus Idaho.

Alabi appeared in 22 games during three stints with the NBA D-League’s Erie BayHawks last season, averaging 7.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 18.5 minutes.

Aaron Gray Medical Update

The Toronto Raptors announced Monday centre Aaron Gray underwent an ablation procedure today to correct his reoccurring episodes of a rapid heart rate. The procedure was performed at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital by Dr. Jaspal Singh and Dr. Eugene Crystal.

It is anticipated Gray will be able to return to the court within two weeks.

Gray, a four-year NBA veteran, was signed December 11 as a free-agent. He appeared in two preseason games, totaling nine rebounds in 32 minutes.
