Raptors Name Weltman Executive VP, Basketball Operations

The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday NBA-veteran front office executive Jeff Weltman has been named Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. Weltman joins the Raptors following five seasons as assistant general manager with the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Jeff possesses a wealth of experience and a solid reputation in basketball circles,” said Masai Ujiri, Raptors President and General Manager, Basketball Operations. “I had the pleasure of working with Jeff in Denver and I’ve seen first-hand the basketball acumen he will bring to our staff.”

Bryan Colangelo Steps Down

Bryan Colangelo will retain his title of president but will no longer be the General Manager of the Raptors

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday that Bryan Colangelo, President of Team and Business Operations, has stepped down from his position and will become a consultant for the team and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment moving forward. Colangelo joined the organization in February 2006 as President and General Manager.

Casey To Return As Head Coach

Toronto Raptors President and General Manager, Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri announced Wednesday that Head Coach Dwane Casey will return for the 2013-14 season.

“I’m excited about moving forward and growing this team with Coach Casey,” said Ujiri.

Casey is in the final year of a contract extension signed following the 2011-12 campaign.

An announcement will be made in the future regarding the club’s assistant coaching staff.

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have named Bobby Webster as the club’s Vice President, Basketball Management & Strategy. DeRozan Selected For 2013 USA Basketball Mini-Camp

USA Basketball announced Wednesday that Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan has been selected to participate in the Men’s National Team mini-camp this summer. The camp will be held July 22-25 in Las Vegas and includes a total of 27 players.

DeRozan completed his fourth season the NBA and set career highs for points (18.1), rebounds (3.9), assists (2.5) and minutes (36.7). Raptors Name Masai Ujiri General Manager

The Toronto Raptors announced Friday that the club has signed Masai Ujiri as its General Manager. Ujiri, 42, was recently named the NBA’s Executive of the Year in his capacity as Executive Vice-President of Basketball Operations for the Denver Nuggets. He replaces Bryan Colangelo, who is now the Raptors’ President.

In his three seasons in Denver, Ujiri built the Nuggets into a team that won a franchise-record 57 games and delivered an NBA-best 38-3 record at home this past season.

Terrence Ross To Participate In NBA Nation China

The NBA announced Thursday that Toronto Raptors forward Terrence Ross will participate in the 2013 NBA Nation China tour this summer. Ross will travel abroad July 26-28 to the city of Jinan.

The play of rookie Jonas Valanciunas has been a bright spot for the Raptors.

The NBA announced Tuesday that centre Jonas Valanciunas has been named to the 2012-13 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
