The NBA announced Thursday that rookie forward Terrence Ross (@T_DotFlight31) has been selected to participate in the Sprite Slam Dunk on All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm. Ross is the fifth Raptor invited to participate in the event, joining Vince Carter (2000), Tracy McGrady (2000), Jamario Moon (2008) and DeMar DeRozan (2010 and 2011). This year’s contest will take place Saturday, February 16 at the Toyota Center in Houston and will be broadcasted on TSN2 and TNT beginning at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
This year’s festivities include a new format where Eastern Conference players will compete versus Western Conference players in a two-round competition. The highest scoring East competitor and the highest scoring West competitor from the Team Round will compete head-to-head to determine the champion. Fan voting will open at the beginning of the Championship Round and the player with the highest percentage of combined votes from all platforms will be champion.
Fans will be able to cast votes for the champion in one of four ways:
1.) SMS Text Message* – Text the player’s last name to 38657 (DUNKS)
2.) Twitter - Tweet #SpriteSlam with the player’s last name
3.) Vote via the official NBA All-Star App (Available on iTunes, Google Play and at http://www.nba.com/allstarapp/)
4.) Log on to NBA.com from any computer or mobile device.
Defending Sprite Slam Dunk champion Jeremy Evans (Utah Jazz) headlines the Western Conference team along with Eric Bledsoe (Los Angeles Clippers) and Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets). Ross will compete for the Eastern Conference along with 2007 contest winner Gerald Green (Indiana Pacers) and James White (New York Knicks).
Fans fan follow Ross’ journey to Houston by visiting www.raptors.com throughout the week.
