Fresh off the Raptors’ win over the Suns in game three of their four-game road trip, the team held practice on the campus of UCLA on Thursday as they prepared for the Lakers on Friday in Staples Center.
Head coach Dwane Casey continued to laud his team’s defensive approach in Phoenix, but readily admitted that Friday’s meeting with a Lakers team battling for a playoff berth will be a completely different animal.
Sebastian Telfair had his first significant minutes as a Raptor against his former team in Phoenix and made the most of the opportunity, with 13 points, seven assists and four steals. The veteran point guard spoke about carrying that momentum forward and how limiting turnovers (the Raptors had 21 on Wednesday), will be key against the Lakers.
Finally, Jonas Valanciunas was front and centre (no pun intended) as he preps for his first-ever matchup against Dwight Howard — a challenge he said he was looking forward to very early in his rookie season. Valanciunas was inactive with a hand injury when the Raptors beat the Lakers
We’ll have more on the matchup during tomorrow morning’s edition of The #RTZ Show and you can watch Raptors @ Lakers on TSN2 or listen on the FAN590 at 10:30 PM ET.
