Not exactly a textbook win for the Raptors, but they’ll take it as they split a back-to-back on the road with a 95-84 victory over the Hornets.
The focus was undoubtedly on DeMar DeRozan after a fourth-quarter benching in Houston on Tuesday was followed by a post-game social media faux pas that was quickly deleted. After an internal discussion with head coach Dwane Casey before Wednesday’s game, DeRozan proceeded to deliver a balanced performance with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists.
But after an brutal third-quarter offensive drought saw the Raptors hit the fourth down 69-62 to the Hornets, it was Linas Kleiza and the Raptors bench heating up from beyond the arc that truly got the Raptors back on track in The Big Easy.
Or as our #RTZ Tweet of the Night winner @ChiaDeChavez pointed out:
The Raptors now head back to Toronto, where they’ll open up a four-game homestand against the Grizzlies on Friday. Until then, here’s the best of what you had to say with our Top 10 #RTZ Tweets of the Night.
@nemki: Raptors will bounce back tonight – not with a single performance but a team effort. D it up TO
@mattybats57: Raptors need to claw their way to a W by taking the sting out of the Hornets offence, pushing the ball and maintaining inside pressure!
@RyanOnBoard: Both teams on the back to back, but it appears NOH loss vs. Bulls is harder on them than Raps loss to HOU
@SweetWillowTree: DeRozan looks all business right now. Rock on, man!
@kuyaBRIAN_: Linas Kleiza has a broken nose? Hurt ankle? Who knew? He’s been going to work.
@KevinRashidi: Four raptors in double digits, that’s how you play as a team.
@awadecircus: I like how the raptors aren’t taking this lead for granted, playing down to the last second is what I like to see.
