If you were following coverage of the Raptors this weekend in Miami, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d traveled back to around 2001.

A group of Raptors alumni, which included Alvin Williams, Morris Peterson, Muggsy Bogues, Antonio Davis and Charles Oakley, reunited in the Sunshine State in support the MLSE Foundation‘s “Sky’s The Limit” event. Some of the foundation’s tremendous supporters joined the alumni for a one of a kind experience that included dinner, accommodations, golf and, of course, the Raptors’ matchup with the Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena on Monday. New Point Guard Kyle Lowry Has A Fan In Alvin Williams

Kyle Lowry, acquired by the Raptors from the Houston Rockets brings an aggressive win-at-all costs countenance to the Raptors.

About eight years ago, Raptors assistant coach Alvin Williams scrimmaged at Villanova in his hometown of Philadelphia.

He faced another Philly-born point guard,  a kid he had helped recruit to the school.

“I thought he was a jerk,” said Williams, who played 460 games for the Raptors from 1998-2006 before ravaged knees forced his retirement at 30.
