Raptors Training Camp Recap: Day Three

Thursday represented the lightest day of training camp for the Raptors in Halifax, with just the one morning practice before getting the rest of the day off.

It might have come just in time as head coach Dwane Casey noted that fatigue might have been setting in somewhat with his players after a fifth practice session in three days. We’ve got more from Casey, along with interviews with DeMar DeRozan and Amir Johnson below.

We’ll have a little more coverage on how some of the Raptors spent the rest of ...

DeRozan Named To 2012 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team

DeMar DeRozan’s summer just got a little busier with the news that the shooting guard has been added to USA Basketball’s Olympic Select Roster.

Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball Chairman (and father of Raptors President and GM Bryan Colangelo) announced the addition of DeRozan to the roster of up-and-coming American players during Monday’s edition of the FAN 590′s Prime Time Sports (around the 7:10 mark).

End Of Season Begins A New Chapter For Raptors

Full Season-Ending News Conference Playlists: Bryan Colangelo | Dwane Casey | Raptors Players

There is no blueprint without a beginning.

There can be no beginning without a careful study of a blueprint.

That’s where the Toronto Raptors are right now. They have a blueprint. As of last night’s win over New Jersey, they have their beginning.

This was a different kind of end of season. No one said the club was better than their record. No one is kidding themselves about a quick entry into the league elite. The club finished 23-43.

But ...

An Eye-Opener On The Road

When an undermanned lottery-bound team knocks off a high-seeded playoff-bound squad it’s easy to dismiss it as an aberration. But the Raptors have now done it for two straight games after Sunday’s 102-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks and the big question is how?

“Believe me if I knew, I’d bottle it and we would have been doing it earlier in the year,” said head coach Dwane Casey when asked post-game to explain the effort he’s seeing from a group missing three several key pieces.

What’s clear is that the Raptors have ...

The absence of sharpshooter Ray Allen was glaring but certainly mitigated by the insertion of blossoming defensive stopper Avery Bradley into the starting five and the recent incredible play of point guard Rajon ...
