Season Series: Raptors 1-2

The Toronto Raptors have a day off between games, though it might not feel that way considering the way their last one ended. They probably would have preferred to get right back to work and forget about it.

The Raptors will get that opportunity Sunday at home against the Atlanta Hawks. Friday night at home against Oklahoma City, Toronto (38-30) let an eight-point lead slip away in the final minute of the second overtime and watched Kevin Durant drain a ...

Kevin Durant wasn’t the only player having a night to remember in Oklahoma City’s 119-118 double-overtime victory against the Toronto Raptors.

Although he would rather the final outcome had been a different, Amir Johnson suited up for the 500th game of his NBA career on Friday night.

“I just say it’s a blessing that I can continue to keep on playing through all the injuries I’ve been through,” Johnson said about the milestone. “Just to be able to wake up every ...

Throwback Thursday: Raptors At The Big Dance

dckentucky

You’ve pondered over predictions, filled out your bracket and mapped out the days that you’re calling in sick to work. The madness has begun! March Madness, that is.

Besides Amir (who was the last NBA player to be selected straight out of highschool) and both Jonas and Nando whose pre-NBA days were Europe-based, let’s take a look back at which Raptors soaked up the most madness during their college runs.

Put me in, coach…

Sweet 16:
John Salmons – Miami (1999-2000)
Chuck Hayes – Kentucky (2001-2002)
Kyle Lowry – Villanova (2004-2005)
Landry Fields – Stanford (2007-2008)
Dwight Buycks ...

Season Series: Raptors 1-0

The good thing about back-to-backs is they force you to forget about the last game and focus on the challenge ahead. Fresh off an overtime-loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, the Toronto Raptors are in New Orleans and hoping to dust off their shoulders to get back on track against the Pelicans.

The last time these teams met, Kyle Lowry had a 19-point, 12-assist double-double and DeMar DeRozan scored 22 points as the Raptors downed the Pelicans 108-101. Amir Johnson missed ...

Season Series: Raptors 1-1

After a disappointing loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon, the Toronto Raptors face off against the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta on Tuesday night. While these teams have split a pair of games earlier this year, the Hawks were recently in free-fall mode, dropping 14 of 15 games prior to the four-game winning streak they bring into Tuesday’s game.

While the Raptors hold a three-game lead on the Brooklyn Nets at the top of the Atlantic Division, the Hawks are holding down ...

Shortly before the Phoenix Suns shot their way to a 121-113 victory against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek praised the depth of Toronto’s bench. With Gerald Green scoring 28 points to lead the way, Hornacek spent Sunday afternoon watching his own bench outscore Toronto’s reserves 59-11.

In addition to the 28 from Green, Markieff Morris had a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double for the Suns, who are in a battle ...

Recap | Box Score | Photos | Highlights & Post-Game Reaction

The Toronto Raptors notched their 36th victory of the season on Wednesday night in a 101-87 win against the Detroit Pistons. It wasn’t a particularly pretty game. Neither team shot well. Each team turned the ball over 16 times.

Still, it was an important victory for Toronto because the team is in the home stretch of a playoff run with 19 games remaining. This is new territory for some of these players. They’re learning as they go with Raptors head coach Dwane Casey leading the way.

“A lot ...

Box Score | Game Recap | Video Highlights & Post-Game Reaction

With 1:36 remaining on Monday night, DeMar DeRozan took a three and missed a three. 16 year-veteran Paul Pierce grabbed the rebound and promptly hit a three of his own. The game had been tied at 94 points apiece. Pierce’s three gave the Brooklyn Nets a three-point advantage. Brooklyn would go on to close out the 101-97 victory from there.

That three —and Pierce’s 10-point fourth quarter— is exactly why the Nets are a dangerous team. Regardless of the four-game ...

Season Series: Raptors 2-1

The Toronto Raptors are in Brooklyn to face the Nets while being nine games above .500 for the first time since the 2006-2007 season thanks to a road win in Minnesota on Sunday night.

Currently holding a four-game lead on the Nets, Toronto will look to take another step toward winning the Atlantic Division. They’ll do so without the services of Patrick Patterson, who was ruled out for the next 7-10 days because of a right ulnar collateral sprain.

In Toronto’s dramatic 104-103 victory ...

Season Series: Raptors 1-0

In a January meeting against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Air Canada Centre, the Raptors pulled out a 94-89 victory. When the Timberwolves made a late push to get within two points with less than two minutes remaining, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry made tough baskets to clinch the win.
