Caboclo Earns Hard-Won Experience In Loss To Mavs

caboclo_576

One of the biggest goals for the Toronto Raptors for summer league is getting rookie Bruno Caboclo familiar with the NBA game. In an 88-57 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, Caboclo not only got another dose of experience, but also a solid serving of frustration as well. With the entire team struggling (Toronto finished the game shooting 30 per cent from the floor while allowing Dallas to shoot better than 50 per cent), Caboclo tried his best to help bring the Raptors back, but grew frustrated by the team’s inability to ...

Raptors Embracing “15 Deep” Mentality

stone_576

Spend any amount of time around this year’s Toronto Raptors team and you’ll hear the phrase “15 deep.”

One of the key components of any successful team is depth. Over the course of an 82-game regular season a lot can happen. Thanks to injuries, illness and off-nights, even Mr. Dependable can disappear for a game here or there. Having a solid set of reserves can help weather those bumps and bruises without lasting damage.

For players that are not always in the rotation, staying ready on their own time is a must. ...

Updates Before The Raptors’ Final Preseason Game

The Raptors were ready for a physical battle against the Grizzlies on Wednesday and they delivered with a lopsided 108-72 preseason win at ACC on Wednesday. But there’s been a toll to pay on the injury front, with a mixed bag of results.

First is Kyle Lowry. The point guard was already having his best game of the preseason in the third quarter on Wednesday before he was forced out with an injury to his left ring finger.

Kyle Lowry has injured left ring finger tendon. He’ll require splint for approx. 6 ...

Jack Of All Trades Julyan Stone Keeps Rolling

His ability to guard fellow point guards as well as shooting guards and small forwards is earning Julyan Stone a look at Raptors training camp.

Maybe, it’s just a crack, but the window for a spot on the Raptors roster remains open for Julyan Stone.

The 24-year-old point guard is an intriguing prospect. Stone played sparingly over two years with the Denver Nuggets but caught the eye of Masai Ujiri who, you might have heard, left the Nuggets for the Raptors this summer.

Stone seemed ready to sign with Toronto during the summer but an undisclosed injury scuttled the deal. He earned 24 minutes in playing time in Wednesday’s 99-97 win over Boston and that contest showcased ...

Rapid Reaction: Raptors Storm Back To Drop Knicks

Box Score | Photo Gallery | Video: Highlights & Reaction | Lowry Feature

Thoughts from a 100-91 Raptors comeback win over the Knicks at ACC on Friday…

- Quincy Acy wasted little time making an impression in his first preseason action of the preseason. Acy entered the game with 6:12 to play in the fourth quarter and went on to reel off seven straight points in just under 90 seconds to put the Raptors ahead for good with just under two minutes to play.

“I just stay ready and that’s what ...

Checking Out With The Raptors From Las Vegas

Thoughts after a wrapping up with the Raptors at another NBA Summer League experience in Las Vegas….

- This isn’t exactly an original sentiment and I fully acknowledge that it means nothing in the grand scheme, but Jonas Valanciunas was certainly Raptors MVP at NBA Summer League, should make the All-Tournament Team and deserves serious consideration for Summer League MVP.  [EDIT: Done and DONE!]

We’ve mentioned his noticeable development in terms of size and skill. Now bring on EuroBasket 2013, where the competition should ramp up considerably.

Acy Takes Aim

- Quincy Acy will always ...
