An Eye-Opener On The Road

When an undermanned lottery-bound team knocks off a high-seeded playoff-bound squad it’s easy to dismiss it as an aberration. But the Raptors have now done it for two straight games after Sunday’s 102-86 victory over the Atlanta Hawks and the big question is how?

“Believe me if I knew, I’d bottle it and we would have been doing it earlier in the year,” said head coach Dwane Casey when asked post-game to explain the effort he’s seeing from a group missing three several key pieces.

What’s clear is that the Raptors have ...

DeRozan Leads The Way On One Freaky Friday

The disparities between the two clubs coming into Friday’s game couldn’t have been more pronounced.

The Celtics hit Toronto as one of the hottest teams in the league with 19 wins in their last 26 games to put them back atop the Atlantic Division and in position to have home court advantage to start the upcoming post-season. The absence of sharpshooter Ray Allen was glaring but certainly mitigated by the insertion of blossoming defensive stopper Avery Bradley into the starting five and the recent incredible play of point guard Rajon ...

Davis A Bright Spot In A Tough Loss

Dwane Casey hasn’t been consistently satisfied with what he’s seen from Ed Davis over the course of this of his first season coaching the Raptors, but he likes what he’s seen of late.

“He’s made a lot of progress as a matter of fact,” said Casey prior to the Raptors 93-75 loss to the Sixers at ACC. “The last two or three weeks to the last month, there’s some pep in his step.”

That continued on Wednesday, as the second-year forward powered his way to his finest performance of the season, with ...

Blowout In The City Of Brotherly Love

Odd result on Wednesday as the Raptors extend their win streak to three games for the first time since 2010 following a 99-78 win over the Sixers.

Tale of two halves: It went from a Philadelphia team that I’m still not convinced missed a shot in the first half to one that couldn’t find the ocean with a beach ball down the stretch.

The Sixers went from a team that dropped 31 points in the opening 12 minutes, to one that scored just 22 in final 24, which contributed to a floor ...

Raptors Continue Recent Roll Against Cavs

CLE_4_031312

Our #RTZ Tweet of the Night winner @IamRemo got his wish with plenty to like from a Raptors perspective following Tuesday’s 96-88 win in Cleveland.

The victory wasn’t without its flaws — particularly in the early going — but what the Raptors lacked in consistency they more than made up for with effort, balance and a healthy dose of those “winning plays” we’ve heard heard coach Dwane Casey refer to so often this season.

When a bucket was needed late for the Raptors to avoid a potential collapse, there was Andrea Bargnani ...
