Raptors Struggle To Stop Wizards In Latest Road Loss

WASHINGTON (CP) — As the Washington Wizards pursue their stated goal of finishing ninth in the Eastern Conference, seeing Bradley Beal back on the court was a welcome sight.

Beal scored 24 points in his return from a five-game absence, leading the Wizards to a 109-92 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.

Emeka Okafor had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and John Wall added 18 points and 10 assists for Washington. The Wizards, who came in having lost two in a row on the road, won their seventh straight […]

Big Third Quarter Powers Raptors Past Pistons

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (CP) — Rudy Gay and the Toronto Raptors are out of the playoff picture and have just 10 games left before their season ends. That doesn’t mean they’re going to go quietly.

Gay scored 19 of his 21 points during a dominant third quarter and the Raptors ended a five-game skid with a 99-82 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night.

Toronto led 46-45 at the break and took control by outscoring the Pistons 23-5 in the first eight minutes of the third period.

DeMar DeRozan also had […]

Anderson’s Career Night Not Enough As Raptors Edged By Knicks

rapsknicks032313_1

TORONTO – Alan Anderson hit a career high but wasn’t in the mood for celebrating Friday.

The Raptors journeyman poured in 20 of his career-high 35 points in the third quarter Friday night, but Toronto dropped a 99-94 decision to the Knicks for their third straight loss.

“It feels really good personally but when you can’t get the win, you wish you did a little bit more,” Anderson said afterward.

The Raptors didn’t have long to lament the loss. Both teams then departed the Air Canada Centre for the airport to head […]

Raptors Can’t Come Back Against Bobcats In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CP) — Gerald Henderson is enjoying the best streak of his four-year NBA career, and the Charlotte Bobcats are playing better, too.

Henderson turned in another solid all-around game, Byron Mullens scored 25 points and the Bobcats beat the Toronto Raptors 107-101 on Wednesday night to win consecutive games for the first time since mid-November.

Henderson scored 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added seven rebounds and five assists. The soon-to-be restricted free agent is averaging 22.7 points on 50 per cent shooting in his last seven games, including […]

Raptors Prep For Lakers In LA

Fresh off the Raptors’ win over the Suns in game three of their four-game road trip, the team held practice on the campus of UCLA on Thursday as they prepared for the Lakers on Friday in Staples Center.

Head coach Dwane Casey continued to laud his team’s defensive approach in Phoenix, but readily admitted that Friday’s meeting with a Lakers team battling for a playoff berth will be a completely different animal.

Sebastian Telfair had his first significant minutes as a Raptor against his former team in Phoenix and made the most […]

Big Fourth Quarter Helps Raptors Swat Hornets

TORONTO (CP) – When Raptors coach Dwane Casey issued a challenge to his second unit during half time, the message wasn’t lost on John Lucas.

The backup point guard scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as Toronto defeated the New Orleans Hornets 102-89 Sunday.

Casey wasn’t pleased to see an 11-point Toronto lead in the second quarter quickly erased as the Hornets went on a 10-0 run with the Raptors second unit on the floor.

“We struggled a little bit in the first half where the second unit […]
