Some thoughts after what was possibly the Raptors’ most impressive win of the season — a 109-108 OT road win over the Mavericks on Friday. Cue videobomb…

– DeMar DeRozan wasn’t exactly brilliant shooting the ball the whole night, with increased defensive attention at least part of the reason why.

“Sometimes you have to be the decoy,” said head coach Dwane Casey post-game. “Some days you’re the pigeon, some days you’re the statue.”

DeRozan shot just 6-of-18 from the […]

Raptors Defence Proves Porous In Home Loss To Warriors

TORONTO (AP) — Aaron Gray’s big night wasn’t enough to rescue the flu-ravaged Toronto Raptors.

The centre had a career-high 22 points Monday, but the Golden State Warriors pulled away late for a 114-102 victory over Toronto.

“They’re a much improved team, we feel like we can compete with teams like that, but tonight we just couldn’t stop anybody,” said Gray, who also had 10 rebounds. “They scored way too many points, that’s not the identity we want to have.

“It’s hard to beat teams when they score 114.”

Raptors coach Dwane Casey […]

MIAMI, Fla. (CP) — After sitting around for nearly a week, the Miami Heat expected to be a little less than razor-sharp.

It took an extra session, but the reigning NBA champions eventually found their groove.

Raptors Mid-Season Report Cards

Forty-one games gone.

Forty-one games to go.

The Raptors are 15-26 and likely will be until they play game number 42 in Miami, Wednesday.

Time for the mid-season report card.

Quincy Acy: 3.1 PPG, 2.10 RPG: Has delighted coaching staff with recent play and provided valuable minutes as team struggles without bigs Bargnani and Valanciunas. Has showed ability to hit 15 footers. Won’t ever rebound like his doppelganger Reggie Evans but will score more. Still miles to go. +C.

Alan Anderson: 12.3 PPG, 2.30 RPG: Excellent defender who can handle guards and forwards. Vocal leader.  […]

Raptors See Progress, But Missed Opportunities At Halfway Mark

Take away the start.

But that they could.

As the 15-26 Toronto Raptors contemplate the second half of their season, a little perspective is in order.

Since opening the season 4-19, the Toronto Raptors have gone 11-7 and it, should be even better than that.

The Raptors blew leads of 19 an 20 points in losses to Philadelphia and Milwaukee, respectively, last week. They have lost 10 games in which they led by 10 or more points.

Quincy Acy has emerged as a contributor for the Raptors as they hit the halfway point of […]

TORONTO (CP) — The strong play of the Toronto Raptors’ reserves was marred by a questionable call on Wednesday.

Chicago’s Luol Deng hit an 18-foot pull-up jump shot to give the Bulls a 107-105 lead with 3.3 seconds left in overtime. Toronto called a timeout and […]
