Wild One In The Windy City

What a game.

The final score simply will signify another loss in a season chock full of them for the Raptors, but Saturday’s 102-101 OT loss to the Bulls in Chicago was quite possibly the Raptors most memorable effort of the season.

Down a couple more key players in DeMar DeRozan and Jerryd Bayless, the Raptors eight-man rotation let it all hang out against the league’s top team on the road, in the second night of a back-to-back and in their fourth game in five nights.

“Our guys fought out there all night,” ...

Raptors Show Some Grit In Big Win Over Knicks

A simple statement from our #RTZ Tweet of the Night winner @Liston, but one that speaks volumes about two distinct and clashing trains of thought present in the Raptors’ 96-79 win over the Knicks on Friday at ACC.

First the Linsanity portion, which saw large pockets of the sellout crowd out in force to support Knicks lead guard Jeremy Lin. Groups of fans clearly had planned for this event, as there were shirts and signs that ran the gamut of every terrible pun involving a surname that didn’t resonate quite as ...

A Costly Loss

Spot on from our #RTZ Tweet of the Night Winner @MegiMK.

On a night where the Raptors saw the return of Andrea Bargnani, the result was one of the worst losses of the season in an ugly 105-86 blowout against the Pistons.

Bargnani understandably showed a little rust after a 20-game layoff  and his return seemed to result in a somewhat disjointed start by his team offensively, but what has to be much more disconcerting was the Raptors’ overall compete level.

With two days to prepare for Saturday’s contest and coming off one ...

Raptors Show Some Growth In Win Over Rockets

HOU_15_030712

An astute observation from our #RTZ Tweet of the Night winner @BarryMRubin, which certainly held up as DeRozan turned in a potent performance at both ends of the floor in the Raptors’ 116-98 win over the visiting Rockets at ACC on Wednesday.

DeRozan’s recent resurgence, with six outings of at least 20 points in his last eight games after a very tough start, has been emblematic of this years Raptors, who are proving to be increasingly difficult to pin down and rounding into form.

Raptors End First Half On Right Note

DET_1_022212

On the floor, the Raptors looked every bit the more rested, focused team. Their willingness to share the ball (30 assists on 40 made field goals), ability to execute offensively (52.6% shooting from the floor) and a renewed commitment to defence helped them build a big lead before hanging ...
