Season Series: Raptors 1-1

After a string of slow starts the Toronto Raptors got burned Tuesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Clawing back from a terrible first half, they were a botched final possession away from tying or winning the game.

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, showing up for anything less than 48 minutes isn’t good enough. Losing to the Cavaliers without Kyrie Irving is a good wake-up call for a team fighting to finish the season in the third spot in the Eastern […]

Season Series: Raptors 2-0

While the Toronto Raptors won both of their previous meetings with the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, neither was a runaway victory. In their first match up of the season, Terrence Ross and Jonas Valanciunas led the Raptors with 20 points and 18 points, eight assists, respectively.

In their most recent road win against the Cavaliers, DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 33 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, to save the Raptors after they surrendered a 14-point lead. Ross had another strong game […]

Game Day: Raptors vs. Hawks

Season Series: Raptors 1-2

The Toronto Raptors have a day off between games, though it might not feel that way considering the way their last one ended. They probably would have preferred to get right back to work and forget about it.

The Raptors will get that opportunity Sunday at home against the Atlanta Hawks. Friday night at home against Oklahoma City, Toronto (38-30) let an eight-point lead slip away in the final minute of the second overtime and watched Kevin Durant drain a […]

The Toronto Raptors notched one of their biggest road victories of the season when they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 104-98 back in December. On Friday night, the Thunder are in town to try to get a season split against the Raptors.

Toronto’s win in Oklahoma City was the Thunder’s first home loss of the season and snapped a 13-game home winning streak. Kyle Lowry had 22 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Raptors, while Amir Johnson added 17 points and […]

Season Series: Raptors 1-1

After a disappointing loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon, the Toronto Raptors face off against the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta on Tuesday night. While these teams have split a pair of games earlier this year, the Hawks were recently in free-fall mode, dropping 14 of 15 games prior to the four-game winning streak they bring into Tuesday’s game.

While the Raptors hold a three-game lead on the Brooklyn Nets at the top of the Atlantic Division, the Hawks are holding down […]

Season Series: Raptors 0-1

The Toronto Raptors will try to go a perfect 3-0 when they close out this three-game homestand on Sunday afternoon against the Phoenix Suns.

In Toronto’s previous meeting against Phoenix (on Dec. 6), the Suns overwhelmed the Raptors with their speed and handed them their fifth consecutive loss. That was the team’s longest losing streak this season and moved them to 6-12.

In that loss, Markieff Morris led the way with 23 points for the Suns. Amir Johnson scored 22 points for the Raptors. […]

Recap | Box Score | Photos | Highlights & Post-Game Reaction

The Toronto Raptors notched their 36th victory of the season on Wednesday night in a 101-87 win against the Detroit Pistons. It wasn’t a particularly pretty game. Neither team shot well. Each team turned the ball over 16 times.

Still, it was an important victory for Toronto because the team is in the home stretch of a playoff run with 19 games remaining. This is new territory for some of these players. They’re learning as they go with Raptors head coach Dwane Casey leading the way.

“A lot […]

Season Series: Raptors 2-1

The Toronto Raptors are in Brooklyn to face the Nets while being nine games above .500 for the first time since the 2006-2007 season thanks to a road win in Minnesota on Sunday night.

Currently holding a four-game lead on the Nets, Toronto will look to take another step toward winning the Atlantic Division. They’ll do so without the services of Patrick Patterson, who was ruled out for the next 7-10 days because of a right ulnar collateral sprain.

In Toronto’s dramatic 104-103 victory […]

Raptors Embracing “15 Deep” Mentality

stone_576

Spend any amount of time around this year’s Toronto Raptors team and you’ll hear the phrase “15 deep.”

One of the key components of any successful team is depth. Over the course of an 82-game regular season a lot can happen. Thanks to injuries, illness and off-nights, even Mr. Dependable can disappear for a game here or there. Having a solid set of reserves can help weather those bumps and bruises without lasting damage.

For players that are not always in the rotation, staying ready on their own time is a must. […]
