MLSE’s Tim Leiweke Sleeps Out For Covenant House

leiweke620-112113

A sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard.

That’s all the comfort Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke will be afforded as he joins 73 corporate and community leaders braving sub-zero temperatures at the Covenant House Executive Sleep Out, Thursday night in downtown Toronto.

The event supports $20 million in programs to provide shelter, food, education and support to the estimated 3,000 youths without shelter who turn to Covenant House every year.

For Leiweke the event holds a special relevance. He was 12-years-old when his mother’s death from cancer jolted a […]

In Order Of Buzzworthyness: Raptors Land Drake, All-Star Game

All eyes were on Drake as he and the Raptors announced a new partnership as well as the acquisition of the 2016 All-Star Game.

Star power.

That’s what was in evidence, Monday as the Raptors announced they had secured both the 2016 NBA All-Star game and the services of music star Drake as their Global Ambassador.

By necessity, the press conference was short on specifics. Being one of the top music stars in the world makes it impossible to quantify just how much […]

Q & A With Alex Rucker – Pt. 1

Alex Rucker offers quantitative analytical support to the Raptors coaching staff and front office. (Ron Turenne/NBAE)

The opportunity to sit and chat with Raptors Director of Analytics Alex Rucker is one I’ve been looking forward to for a while. Advanced stats isn’t a topic we’ve heard a lot about with relation to the Raptors over the years and Rucker has been a big part of its recent growth within the organization.

I met him inside the Raptors front office headquarters at ACC recently to talk tweets, trends, summer transactions and a how […]
