Sore Left Knee Forces Lowry To Sit Against Rockets

NOP_lowry600

The Toronto Raptors will be without Kyle Lowry against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. After taking a hit from LeBron James during Toronto’s 93-83 loss to the Heat in Miami on Monday night, Lowry will be on the inactive list against Houston.

During Raptors head coach Dwane Casey’s pre-game media session he said Lowry had received treatment on his knee since returning from the team’s road trip and would go through tests to see how he felt before a decision would be made with the medical staff on his ...

Season Series: Rockets 1-0

The Toronto Raptors were a completely different team the last time they saw the Houston Rockets. At the Toyota Center on November 11th, 2013, the Raptors came out on the losing end of a seemingly never-ending 110-104 double-overtime decision.

Rudy Gay led the team in scoring with 29 points, but needed to hoist 37 shots to get it. DeMar DeRozan shot just 6-for-25 in the game and Kyle Lowry was 6-for-16 from the floor on a night when the ...

Recapping A Reunion With Raptors Alumni

stl_10

If you were following coverage of the Raptors this weekend in Miami, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d traveled back to around 2001.

A group of Raptors alumni, which included Alvin Williams, Morris Peterson, Muggsy Bogues, Antonio Davis and Charles Oakley, reunited in the Sunshine State in support the MLSE Foundation‘s “Sky’s The Limit” event. Some of the foundation’s tremendous supporters joined the alumni for a one of a kind experience that included dinner, accommodations, golf and, of course, the Raptors’ matchup with the Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena on Monday. ...

MIAMI (CP) – For the first time all season, the Miami Heat are alone atop the Eastern Conference.

And that’s quite a turnaround from how things seemed less than a week ago.

LeBron James fought through a sore back to score 32 points, Chris Bosh added 18 and the Heat used another strong defensive effort to beat the Toronto Raptors 93-83 on Monday night. The win pushed the two-time defending NBA champions percentage points ahead of the struggling Indiana Pacers in the ...

Season Series: Heat 3-0

It’s been a while since the Toronto Raptors have been victorious in Miami. They would like to change that on Monday night, one day after collecting a win against the Orlando Magic.

While the Heat are chasing the Indiana Pacers for the best record in the Eastern Conference, they’ve had a rough stretch (for a 50-win team) going 7-8 over their last 15 games.

In a close 102-97 loss to Miami in January, DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points on 11-for-19 ...

ORLANDO, Fla. (CP) – After Toronto locked up its first post-season berth since 2008 last week, coach Dwane Casey cautioned the Raptors to not get complacent down the stretch with teams still vying for playoff position.

He’s hoping that a nearly disastrous letdown against Orlando will send a stronger message.

DeMar DeRozan had 28 points, Jonas Valanciunas added 20 points and nine rebounds, and the Raptors escaped with a 98-93 victory over the Magic on Sunday night.

Toronto led by as many as ...

Season Series: Raptors 2-0

After the Toronto Raptors clinched a playoff berth with Friday’s victory over the Boston Celtics, they were quick to point out their hard work wasn’t finished. Looking to finish the regular season strong, winning the Atlantic Division is the next goal on Toronto’s list. The Raptors hold a 2.5 game lead on the Brooklyn Nets at the top of the division going into Sunday’s contest against the Orlando Magic.

Just 21-52 on the season, the Magic have won ...

TORONTO (CP) – Together, they’ve logged 10 seasons of mostly disappointment with the Toronto Raptors.

Friday night, DeMar DeRozan and Amir Johnson wrote the perfect ending to the Raptors’ 105-103 victory over the Boston Celtics that – finally – sent the Raptors into the playoffs for the first time in six years.

“It makes it feel all worth it, honestly, the hard work, the struggles, the nights going home where you’re just frustrated and don’t want to turn on sports,” DeRozan said. ...

Throwback Thursday: Amir The Young Vet

Image-57

Amir Johnson, who recently celebrated his 500th career game as a Toronto Raptor and is playing for his second NBA team at just 26 years old, continues to embrace both the claw and the city of Toronto.

Johnson loves the team, he loves the city and isn’t afraid to show it. Hustle and heart, simple as that. This season, he’s quickly been climbing the ladder for most blocks in franchise history (as of this post he sits second behind Chris Bosh) and has received the nickname the ‘Doctor of Denial’. He’s ...

BOSTON (CP) –  DeMar DeRozan understands that a playoff berth for the Raptors has meaning beyond Toronto’s locker room.

Terrence Ross scored 24 points, Kyle Lowry 23 and the Raptors edged closer to their first playoff spot since 2008 with a 99-90 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.

“Not just the franchise, the whole city of Toronto and Canada,” said DeRozan, sitting at his locker with his left foot in a bucket of ice. “I’ve been here five years and see how passionate the fans are. ...
