T-Ross Touches Down In Houston

Day one of an All-Star adventure for our Raptors media crew in Houston started as soon as we stepped off the plane. It was off to get credentials for the weekend and then rush to meet Terrence Ross, who invited us to tag along while he ran a national media gauntlet to talk about his participation for Saturday’s Sprite Slam Dunk.

Check out some of the images below…

Much more coming from Day 2 in Houston. Stay tuned!

Raptors Outlast Knicks At MSG To Extend Streak

NEW YORK — No big shots from Rudy Gay on this night. He hardly made any shots at all.

Neither did Carmelo Anthony, bothered by what he called a dead arm after being hit in the biceps early in the game.

Toronto won the battle of supporting casts, and the game.

Reserve Alan Anderson scored 26 points in one of the few good offensive performances for either team, and the Raptors beat the New York Knicks 92-88 on Wednesday night for their fourth straight victory.

DeMar DeRozan added 20 points for the Raptors, ...

Raptors Edge Nuggets Thanks To Game Winner From Gay

DEN_dd300

TORONTO (CP) — After spending much of the fourth quarter fastened to the bench with foul trouble, Rudy Gay couldn’t wait to get back in the game and make the big shot.

When Raptors head coach Dwane Casey could finally put him back in, Gay didn’t disappoint. He drained the winning bucket with 4.8 seconds to play and Toronto won its third straight by defeating the short-handed Denver Nuggets 109-108 on Tuesday night.

“My hands were sweating, I couldn’t stop moving my legs. I was itching to get back in,” said ...

Ross Ready To Soar At Slam Dunk Contest

It’s been 25 years but Raptors coach Dwane Casey can access the moment in a heartbeat.

The year is 1988 and Casey is an assistant to coach Eddie Sutton at the University of Kentucky. Shawn Kemp, a six-foot-eleven forward destined to be an NBA All-Star soars for a dunk in an exhibition game against a touring Russian team.

“They had a big kid, a seven plus,” Casey remembered. “It seemed like Shawn just kept going up and up and up. He jumped over the guy and dunked it. It was one of ...

Big Fourth Quarter Helps Raptors Swat Hornets

TORONTO (CP) – When Raptors coach Dwane Casey issued a challenge to his second unit during half time, the message wasn’t lost on John Lucas.

The backup point guard scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter as Toronto defeated the New Orleans Hornets 102-89 Sunday.

Casey wasn’t pleased to see an 11-point Toronto lead in the second quarter quickly erased as the Hornets went on a 10-0 run with the Raptors second unit on the floor.

“We struggled a little bit in the first half where the second unit ...
