Raptors Prevail In Close Win Over Knicks

gay022213_1

TORONTO (CP) — His tenure in Toronto may be just 10 games old, but Rudy Gay is making Raptors fans forget all about the players he replaced.

The new swingman poured in 17 of his 32 points in the third quarter to lift Toronto to a 100-98 victory over the visiting New York Knicks on Friday, giving the Raptors their sixth win in seven outings.

The Raptors are 7-3 since the deal that brought Gay to Toronto from Memphis three weeks ago.

“You can give him the ball, he’s a guy who ...

Raptors Ready To Push Forward Largely Unchanged

What you see is what you get.

With just a minor tweak at back-up point guard, the Toronto Raptors are moving ahead with a pat hand.

Yesterday in the shadow of the NBA trade deadline the club added 27-year-old Sebastian Telfair from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a conditional second-rounder and centre Hamed Haddadi.

Haddadi is a holdover from the deal that brought Rudy Gay to Toronto from Memphis.

Telfair is on an expiring contract but nicely fills a need for a pass-inclined point guard behind starter Kyle Lowry and shot-happy John Lucas ...

Raptors Can’t Win Defensive Slugfest Against Grizzlies

MEM_gay_drive300

TORONTO (CP) — Rudy Gay’s former team showed it still knows him better than his new team does.

Gay was held to just 13 points and three assists as the Toronto Raptors fell 88-82 to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

“It was emotional, a little bit, it was good to see the guys,” said Gay, “but at the end of the day it was one of those things where we still thought we could win.”

Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said he felt sorry for Gay, who entered the game averaging 21.1 ...

Raptors Outlast Knicks At MSG To Extend Streak

NEW YORK — No big shots from Rudy Gay on this night. He hardly made any shots at all.

Neither did Carmelo Anthony, bothered by what he called a dead arm after being hit in the biceps early in the game.

Toronto won the battle of supporting casts, and the game.

Reserve Alan Anderson scored 26 points in one of the few good offensive performances for either team, and the Raptors beat the New York Knicks 92-88 on Wednesday night for their fourth straight victory.

DeMar DeRozan added 20 points for the Raptors, ...
