NBA.com Preview | Game Notes | Saturday Practice Video

We’ll get a good look at the resiliency of the Raptors when the Portland Trail Blazers come to town on Sunday afternoon (1 PM ET, Sportsnet, Sportsnet 590 The FAN).

The Raptors have been all over the map this week. They pushed the Rockets to double overtime despite some serious offensive woes in Houston and then manhandled the Grizzlies in Memphis. But they’re coming off a listless 96-80 loss to the Bulls on Friday, which would have been much worse if not ...

Raptors Hit All The Right Notes In Needed Win

team_camo600

Big win. Bigger confidence boost.

That’s the takeaway from a 115-91 Raptors blowout victory over the visiting Jazz on Saturday at ACC.

Head coach Dwane Casey called both teams desperate for a win pregame, which was telling. This season is only a couple of weeks old, but the Raptors have struggled with consistency over a stretch of four losses in five games and it’s tough to envision a scenario where a loss against the winless Jazz would have been viewed as defensible.

Instead, the Raptors delivered a no-doubter that saw them keep ...

Updates Before The Raptors’ Final Preseason Game

The Raptors were ready for a physical battle against the Grizzlies on Wednesday and they delivered with a lopsided 108-72 preseason win at ACC on Wednesday. But there’s been a toll to pay on the injury front, with a mixed bag of results.

First is Kyle Lowry. The point guard was already having his best game of the preseason in the third quarter on Wednesday before he was forced out with an injury to his left ring finger.

Kyle Lowry has injured left ring finger tendon. He’ll require splint for approx. 6 ...

Some general thoughts after the Raptors open the preseason with a 97-89 win over the Celtics at TD Garden in Boston.

-  The first thing head coach Dwane Casey spoke about post-game? Turnovers. The Raptors coughed it up a whopping 25 times with the starters turning it over a total of 16 times.

“I know it’s an exhibition game, but we’ve got to get that way down,” said Casey.

- We saw both the impressive growth and the room ...

Toronto Raptors v Sacramento Kings

A new season brings new faces. New names splashed from shoulder to shoulder. That has definitely been the story here in Raps Nation for the past few. And some of those players reppin’ the claw are new to fans and also new to the whirlwind of the NBA. Ladies and ‘gents, our rookies.

The team has always taken care of them with warm welcomes and gifts to make them feel right at home as they tackle new grounds. To gently ease them into the mighty spotlight of the big bad NBA. ...

Checking Out With The Raptors From Las Vegas

Thoughts after a wrapping up with the Raptors at another NBA Summer League experience in Las Vegas….

- This isn’t exactly an original sentiment and I fully acknowledge that it means nothing in the grand scheme, but Jonas Valanciunas was certainly Raptors MVP at NBA Summer League, should make the All-Tournament Team and deserves serious consideration for Summer League MVP.  [EDIT: Done and DONE!]

We’ve mentioned his noticeable development in terms of size and skill. Now bring on EuroBasket 2013, where the competition should ramp up considerably.

Acy Takes Aim

- Quincy Acy will always ...
