Full Practice For Rudy Gay On Tuesday

A return to the lineup for Raptors forward Rudy Gay against the Hawks at ACC on Wednesday, isn’t assured, but seems a lot more probable after the forward was a full participant at Tuesday’s practice.

Gay, who has missed three of his last 11 games due to back soreness, will be evaluated on Wednesday and according to head coach Dwane Casey “hopefully he’s ready to go and can contribute.”

Watch more from Tuesday’s practice, with Amir Johnson and Terrence Ross on lessons learned as his rookie season winds down.

Dunking Like A Ross…

Thoughts from an amazing night in Houston for Terrence Ross, your 2013 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest Champion:

– When Saturday’s judging panel was introduced, it was tough not to nod your head at the names involved. Rudy Tomjanovic, Yao Ming, Clyde Drexler, Hakeem Olajuwon and Dikembe Mutombo aren’t just local legends in Houston — they’re some all-time NBA greats.

But as @ParmB tweeted, there was only one former dunk contestant among them (Drexler, who participated numerous times back in the 80’s), which might have explained a rather odd start to judging. Think ...

Ross Ready To Soar At Slam Dunk Contest

It’s been 25 years but Raptors coach Dwane Casey can access the moment in a heartbeat.

The year is 1988 and Casey is an assistant to coach Eddie Sutton at the University of Kentucky. Shawn Kemp, a six-foot-eleven forward destined to be an NBA All-Star soars for a dunk in an exhibition game against a touring Russian team.

“They had a big kid, a seven plus,” Casey remembered. “It seemed like Shawn just kept going up and up and up. He jumped over the guy and dunked it. It was one of ...

Gay Shines In Debut As Raptors Rout Clippers At ACC

lac_gay300_020113

TORONTO (CP) — It took all of couple of minutes for Rudy Gay to breathe new hope into Toronto Raptors fans.

Two minutes after the team’s newest player checked in to the Raptors’ 98-73 rout of the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, the explosive small forward took flight for a huge alley-oop dunk from DeMar DeRozan. Twenty seconds later, DeRozan found a sprinting Gay again.

Another big dunk, another roar of approval from the capacity crowd of 19,800 at Air Canada Centre.

“DeMar is a great player, he’s by far the best ...
