A sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard.

That’s all the comfort Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke will be afforded as he joins 73 corporate and community leaders braving sub-zero temperatures at the Covenant House Executive Sleep Out, Thursday night in downtown Toronto.

The event supports $20 million in programs to provide shelter, food, education and support to the estimated 3,000 youths without shelter who turn to Covenant House every year.

Ujiri Celebrates Ten Years With Giants Of Africa

Raptors President and General Manager Masai Ujiri saw a labour of love enjoy a milestone on Sunday, as his Giants of Africa foundation celebrated its 10-year anniversary in Toronto.

Giants of Africa has used basketball as a tool to help enrich the lives of African youth with some impressive results over the last decade. Kids involved with the foundation’s Top 50 Camp and Big Man Camp have gone on to play at numerous levels, including American high schools and universities and junior club teams across Europe.

Masai Ujiri, Citizen Of The World, Comes Home

Masai Ujiri is the Raptors fifth General Manager.

“I don’t have anything written. I’m going to speak straight from my heart.

“I’m home.”

With those words, Masai Ujiri became the first repatriated Raptors executive.

There have been returning players:  Antonio Davis, Maceo Baston, Tracy Murray, Rasho Nesterovic and Oliver Miller came back for a return engagement, but none of those returned in their prime.
