Casey On The Double-Edged Sword With Development

Call it the downside of development.

One day after his team’s drubbing at the hands of the Celtics in Boston, head coach Dwane Casey reflected on the “double-edged sword” that comes into play with the Raptors’ current situation after Thursday’s practice. Namely, that valuable wisdom a player like Jonas Valanciunas is going to gain on the floor against the likes of Kevin Garnett, will likely be hard won and contribute to scores like Wednesday’s result (particularly against veteran clubs like the Celtics).

Garnett passed Jerry West for 15th all-time and Pierce joined him in the top 20 scorers in league history when he passed Charles Barkley for No. 20.

The Raptors listened, with Amir Johnson leading the way with 17 points and a career-tying 16 rebounds, to rally from a 17-point deficit to top the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-96

“It was like day and night, and I expected it just because of the schedule,” Casey said of the Raptors’ horrible first ...
