Throwback Thursday: Casey’s Coaching Milestone

Sacramento Kings v Toronto Raptors

With a victory to kick off the month of April, the Toronto Raptors banked their 43rd win of the season and Dwane Casey recorded his 100th win as the Raptors head coach, although shaking off the recognition in the post game presser.

Among seven prior Raptors head coaches, Casey is only the third in franchise history to hit the 100 mark on the victory ladder.

Casey trails long time NBA presence Lenny Wilkens who served as the Raptors head coach from 2000-2003. He claimed 113 wins over his three seasons with the ...

Transformed Raptors Take Down Rockets In Toronto

Game Recap | Box Score | Photos | Video Highlights & Post-Game Reaction | More From MacKenzie

It’s been five months since the Toronto Raptors lost a double-overtime affair to the Rockets in Houston. In those five months the Raptors traded their highest-paid player, gained a legitimate bench, started figuring things out and clinched the playoffs. Basically, that team that lost to the Rockets in November doesn’t exist anymore.

On Wednesday night at Air Canada Centre, Toronto showed Houston how much has happened since their last meeting, collecting a 107-103 victory despite ...

Sore Left Knee Forces Lowry To Sit Against Rockets

NOP_lowry600

The Toronto Raptors will be without Kyle Lowry against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. After taking a hit from LeBron James during Toronto’s 93-83 loss to the Heat in Miami on Monday night, Lowry will be on the inactive list against Houston.

During Raptors head coach Dwane Casey’s pre-game media session he said Lowry had received treatment on his knee since returning from the team’s road trip and would go through tests to see how he felt before a decision would be made with the medical staff on his ...

Season Series: Rockets 1-0

The Toronto Raptors were a completely different team the last time they saw the Houston Rockets. At the Toyota Center on November 11th, 2013, the Raptors came out on the losing end of a seemingly never-ending 110-104 double-overtime decision.

Rudy Gay led the team in scoring with 29 points, but needed to hoist 37 shots to get it. DeMar DeRozan shot just 6-for-25 in the game and Kyle Lowry was 6-for-16 from the floor on a night when the ...

Recapping A Reunion With Raptors Alumni

stl_10

If you were following coverage of the Raptors this weekend in Miami, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d traveled back to around 2001.

A group of Raptors alumni, which included Alvin Williams, Morris Peterson, Muggsy Bogues, Antonio Davis and Charles Oakley, reunited in the Sunshine State in support the MLSE Foundation‘s “Sky’s The Limit” event. Some of the foundation’s tremendous supporters joined the alumni for a one of a kind experience that included dinner, accommodations, golf and, of course, the Raptors’ matchup with the Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena on Monday. ...

Season Series: Heat 3-0

It’s been a while since the Toronto Raptors have been victorious in Miami. They would like to change that on Monday night, one day after collecting a win against the Orlando Magic.

While the Heat are chasing the Indiana Pacers for the best record in the Eastern Conference, they’ve had a rough stretch (for a 50-win team) going 7-8 over their last 15 games.

In a close 102-97 loss to Miami in January, DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points on 11-for-19 ...

Season Series: Raptors 2-0

After the Toronto Raptors clinched a playoff berth with Friday’s victory over the Boston Celtics, they were quick to point out their hard work wasn’t finished. Looking to finish the regular season strong, winning the Atlantic Division is the next goal on Toronto’s list. The Raptors hold a 2.5 game lead on the Brooklyn Nets at the top of the division going into Sunday’s contest against the Orlando Magic.

Just 21-52 on the season, the Magic have won ...

Raptors Remain Unsatisfied After Securing Playoff Spot

Game Recap | Photos | Highlights & Reaction | Join Raptors Playoff Offers List

The Toronto Raptors can cross clinching a playoff berth off of their to-do list. Surviving a 105-103 contest against the Boston Celtics that was too close for comfort, the Raptors will go to the postseason for the first time since 2008.

After a picture perfect shot from DeMar DeRozan for his 29th and 30th points of the game, and a put-back bucket from Amir Johnson off of a Kyle Lowry attempt, the Raptors were victorious.

“It was fitting that DeMar ...

Season Series: Raptors 2-1

While the Toronto Raptors have known for awhile that they’re heading toward the post-season after a five-year post-season drought, a victory against the Boston Celtics on Friday night would make it official.

Either a Raptors victory or a Knicks loss to the Suns will clinch a playoff berth for Toronto. Taking care of business two days ago in Boston, the Raptors will aim to control their own fate once again on Friday night.

“We can’t count on anybody ...

Throwback Thursday: Amir The Young Vet

Image-57

Amir Johnson, who recently celebrated his 500th career game as a Toronto Raptor and is playing for his second NBA team at just 26 years old, continues to embrace both the claw and the city of Toronto.

Johnson loves the team, he loves the city and isn’t afraid to show it. Hustle and heart, simple as that. This season, he’s quickly been climbing the ladder for most blocks in franchise history (as of this post he sits second behind Chris Bosh) and has received the nickname the ‘Doctor of Denial’. He’s ...
